How to Track Conversions with Facebook Pixel & CAPI (No Developer Needed)

Feb 14, 2025 10 min read Jahirul Islam Naeem
In short: Since iOS 14 blocks a large share of browser-based Pixel data, pairing Pixel with server-side Conversions API (CAPI) and deduplicating events by a shared event_id recovers accurate conversion tracking without hiring a developer.

After iOS 14, Facebook Pixel alone misses 30–40% of conversions. The fix is Conversions API (CAPI) - server-side tracking that sends data directly from your server to Facebook, bypassing ad blockers and privacy restrictions.

Pixel vs CAPI: The Difference

Pixel fires from the browser - blocked by iOS privacy, ad blockers, and cookie restrictions. CAPI fires from your server - nothing can block it. Together they give you redundant, accurate data.

Step 1: Install Facebook Pixel

  1. Events Manager → Data Sources → Pixels → Create Pixel

  2. Install via Google Tag Manager (recommended)

  3. Set up events: PageView, ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout, Purchase

  4. Verify with Pixel Helper Chrome extension

Step 2: Set Up CAPI (Without Coding)

Partner Integration method: In Events Manager → Settings → Conversions API → "Set up through partner." Works with Shopify, WooCommerce, Squarespace out of the box.

Step 3: Check Event Match Quality

Score above 7/10 = excellent. Below 5 = improve by passing hashed customer data (email, phone) with each event.

Step 4: Enable Deduplication

Set the same event_id in both Pixel and CAPI payloads - Facebook automatically removes duplicates.
