Google Ads for Small Businesses: Your First Profitable Campaign

Apr 18, 2025 6 min read Jahirul Islam Naeem
In short: A first Google Ads campaign turns profitable by starting Search-only, targeting tight commercial-intent keywords with negatives in place, writing benefit-led ads, budgeting for enough daily clicks, and tracking conversions before spending a taka.

Google Ads catches people at the exact moment they're searching for what you sell. That purchase intent is incredibly valuable - but only if your campaign is structured correctly.

Step 1: Start with Search Only

Ignore Display, Shopping, and YouTube for now. Start with Search campaigns - text ads triggered by specific keywords. Easiest to understand and most controllable for beginners.

Step 2: Keyword Research

High-converting patterns: "[service] near me" | "best [service] in [city]" | "[service] cost/price" | "hire [service]" - these convert far better than informational queries.

Step 3: Write Compelling Ads

3 headlines (30 chars each), 2 descriptions (90 chars each). Include the keyword in at least one headline, a clear benefit, and a strong CTA. Use numbers: "50+ Projects," "Free Quote in 24hrs."

Step 4: Set a Smart Budget

Start with $5-$15/day for Bangladesh campaigns. For US targeting: $15–$50/day minimum. Aim for 50–100 clicks per day to give the algorithm data.

Step 5: Track Conversions First

Never spend a taka without conversion tracking set up. Import GA4 goals into Google Ads. Without data, Google's Smart Bidding has nothing to optimize toward.
